Richard Polheber, Chief Executive Officer
In 1974, Rich came to Tucson, Arizona and joined Tucson Medical Center. The medical center grew to become an integrated delivery system by mid-90. During this growth, Rich moved from department director to various administrative leadership positions and finally became the Administrator for Tucson Medical Center and Senior Vice-President for Health Partners of Southern Arizona. In these later years he had responsibility for all acute, sub-acute, and extended care facilities as well as affiliated relations with Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico.
After leaving Health Partners of Southern Arizona, he formed a consulting company and he worked for two years with clients both in and outside of Arizona. He served as CEO for Page Hospital and their network from 1997 to 1999 and as CEO for Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital, part of Carondelet Health Network, a member of Ascension Health from 1999 to 2009. In 2010 he was invited to serve as the interim CEO for the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers. And most recently he represented Health Tech by serving as the CEO of Palm Drive Hospital from December, 2010 to January 2012. In January of 2013 he took the position of CEO for Benson Hospital. His executive leadership has crossed beyond the traditional structure of a hospital. He has been involved in managed care, homecare, for-profit activities of a laboratory, courier service, and physician billing service, free standing clinics, physician centers of excellence, and long-term retirement housing. In 2009, Rich was recognized for his leadership in healthcare in Arizona by the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association with the presentation of the Salsbury Award.
Prior to entering healthcare, Rich was a junior high school mathematics teacher for several years following his discharge from the Army. The highest rank held was Captain and his active duty experience was in research and development on missile systems with the Army Air Defense Board in El Paso, Texas.
Rich received his B.S. degree in mathematics from Loyola University (Chicago) and a MBA degree with a concentration in healthcare management from the University of Chicago. He has been involved as an adjunct instructor with the College of St. Francis. Rich was a founding member of the Center of Health Management Research, the only management center funded by the National Science Foundation. He has lectured at the University of Arizona (U of A) and Arizona State University and has served for many years as a member of the Advisory Board for the College of Nursing at the U of A.
Rich has been involved on regional and national issues of healthcare, having served as Chairman of the Arizona Hospital Association. He is a Rotarian and his local community involvement includes participation in various arts organizations, educational organizations, and civic organizations.
Rich is married. He and Judith have six children and eight grandchildren.
Ken Goranson, Chief Financial Officer
Ken brings a mix of for profit and not for profit experience through working in healthcare, manufacturing and service related industries. Over 30 years of professional accounting and finance experience in these areas creates a unique skill set.
Ken has worked in healthcare related fields including a pharmaceutical manufacturing company as well as a telephonic translation service that concentrated in healthcare as well as a software company that creates software for public health groups. This has enabled him to better understand the many facet of the healthcare environment. Prior to Benson Hospital, Ken spent five years working for University Physicians Healthcare and University of Arizona Health Network as a controller and finance director. This healthcare organization included two hospitals and over 500 physicians.
Ken has an MBA degree from Babson University (Boston) and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). He has taught accounting and finance classes at the college level in his spare time.
He and his wife have lived in Tucson since 1994 and have four horses that take up any other free time
Teresa Vincifora, Chief Clinical Officer
Teresa Vincifora was born and raised in Arizona. She obtained her nursing degree through Cochise College in 2003 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in HealthCare Administration through the University of Phoenix in 2008. Her nursing experience has been Med/Surg and ER Nurse. She worked in the Emergency Department at Tucson Medical Center (TMC) and the Emergency Department Clinical Educator also at TMC.
In 2007 Teresa Vincifora was hired to work at Benson Hospital as the Emergency Room Supervisor. In 2008 assumed the position of Director of Nursing. As her role and responsibilities increased she was promoted to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and recently Chief Clinical Officer (CCO).
Teresa loves to learn and care for others whether it be patients she cares for or the staff she oversees. She loves her job and looks for every opportunity to learn all she can to be the best she can be at her position.
She has been married for 34 years and has two wonderful sons. She has also been blessed with two wonderful grandsons that take up her spare time.
