Governing Board Meetings are held the third Monday of every month at 4:30 pm in the hospital’s training room.
Ann MacInnes Cook
President has been a resident of St. David since 1970. A retired RN, she worked for a number of years at Benson Hospital. Her interest in the hospital continued after her retirement and she was appointed to the Governing Board in 1997. While active with Benson Rotary and at Holy Trinity Monastery, Benson Hospital remains high on her list of volunteer services. “Providing the very best care for our community and those traveling through is paramount in healthcare. Maintaining and encouraging our excellent staff for the delivery of that care is taken very seriously by our board.”
Vice-President, is a retired social worker. Most recently he retired from Arizona Child Protective Services as Training Manager. His previous experience has been as director of residential treatment centers, private practice and clinician in an acute adolescent psychiatric hospital. “I am interested in the Benson Hospital and community and have hopes of contributing to the hospital’s growth.”
Secretary and Treasurer, moved to the J-6 area in 2005. Prior to his retirement, he was Senior District Executive, Boulder Dam Area Council, and Boy Scouts of America for 10-1/2 years, and Production Control Supervisor, McCulloch Corp., 36 years. “My wife and I like the small town atmosphere and have met many wonderful people. Benson area is fortunate to have a great little hospital here. I’ve enjoyed working with the other board members, administration and all of the other employees I have met.”
Aniceto “Nick” Maldonado
He is native to Benson. He retired from APECO after 36 years. He also is former and City Council Member, as well as current member on the Planning and Zoning Board. Formerly he was vice president of the Community Food Pantry. He felt that his experience in budgeting and working with the public would be beneficial to the Governing Board. “It is a need for the community to have a good hospital.”
Barbara Hartley, MD.
She is the physician liaison on the board. She is one of the hospitalists. As Chief of Staff one of her responsibilities is to be the link between the physicians and the governing board. “Benson Hospital is very important to the people of Benson and the surrounding areas. I feel a great sense of responsibility to do all I can to keep improving and expanding services. I knew even while in Medical School that I would be practicing medicine here in Benson. I live here as well and want my family and neighbors to have the best medical care possible.”
He is a native of Benson, and is an eighth-grade math teacher at the Benson middle school. Dan has been a teacher for 30 years, and presently volunteers to help with track, cross country and football games. In 1986, Dan was appointed to the Benson City Council and served as a member for 10 years. For the past 14 years, he has served as treasurer on the Board of Directors for Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative.
